Wedding photos are by far the best way to remember your wedding in clear detail. It is always fun to open up your scrapbook and look back at all the fun things that happened at your wedding. There are lots of classic photos that every photo album will have such as the first dance, first kiss, and all sorts of other traditional poses. However, it can also be a nice change of pace to have some more interesting and unique pictures in your photo album that utilize props to make them more fun. Shopping for wedding photo props can mean something different to everyone, but here are a few of my favorite ideas that I’ve heard about over the years.
Antique Items
Using antique items as props in your wedding photos is one of the most popular choices. You can use many different things ranging from vintage parasols for the ladies to antique rifles and shotguns for the men. The idea is to use the antique props to make the photo seen much older than it really is and give the illusion that you’re looking at an ancient relic. If you’re hiring a professional photographer, they should be able to adjust the settings on their camera to help with the illusion and even edit the photos afterwards to make them sepia tone and have old film “scratches” using photo editing software.
Sparklers
Using sparklers as props in your wedding photos is another popular choice that will also make all of your guests very happy. The popularity of using wedding sparklers in photos has steadily been on the rise because they are very cheap, are fun for the guests, and make an immediate impression in any photograph. There are many ways you can use sparklers in your pictures including in the background of your traditional shots. Just have your guests light some sparklers and waive them around in the background to make any picture more exciting. Many couples also use them as part of the grand exit with everyone standing alongside the path to light the way for the new couple.
Out of the Ordinary
If you are a little more adventurous, there are tons of other great ideas that are more out of the ordinary. You might consider renting a crazy costume like and astronaut outfit or a gorilla suit to include in some of your photos. I’ve even seen someone go as far as to hire actors to play ghosts or apparitions to “haunt” the background of some of their photos (which was both spooky and very cool at the same time). No two weddings are the same, so the unique props you choose should be just as interesting.
While not everyone is going to want props in their wedding photos, they are a great tool to spice things up a bit. When you’re out shopping for your other wedding supplies, keep an eye open for items you think would be a good fit for your wedding pictures. You never know what you may stumble upon to include in your pictures that will make it fun to look back on in twenty years.
